In our everyday practice as architects, we design cities and buildings. We make conceptual masterplans defining the urban fabric, form and function. And in the end, we just fill the leftover space with greenery.
But what if we design the green fabric first? What if the treescapes take form and we use the rest for urban structures? Can we design the city like a forest and the forest like a city?

This project explores a conceptual approach towards the logic of reversing the workflow. With a lot of data about the trees on a site in Amsterdam, we started filtering and designing the treescapes. Different forms of greenery respond to different scenarios and challenges. The leftover space gets filled with building envelopes, wherein buildings will be designed at the next stage. The project studies this inversion to provoke a discussion.
