CAN A BUILDING UNFOLD MOTION THROUGH A STORY?

Prompted by the city of Düsseldorf, we investigated the idea of an "Opera of the Future". We had to ask the question; can the future afford an opera at all? And how can we justify such an elite building in the middle of the city?

The project tries to imagine an opera, which is less private, less exclusive and ultimately less elite. The building should shine to the outside and retrospectively invite pedestrians in to participate. The level of privacy gradually changes as they walk through the building while experiencing the various inherent art forms of the opera interacting with the public space. The project suggests an opera to be explored by everyone.

This is the proposal for a location at the edge of a park in Düsseldorf.
