"Mich interessiert nicht, wie sich Menschen bewegen sondern was sie bewegt." - Pina Bausch

When Pina Bausch formed her own style of dancing, the 'Tanztheater', it was all about how emotion leads to expression and therefore ultimately to motion. Emotion means 'to move out', the movement comes from the inside, which is exactly what Pina was so interested in. This sentiment is inherent in everyone, so everyone should become part of the performance.
How can a building create the framework for this to happen?

The centrepiece of the design is a cultural canyon where the different uses of the building clash and the visitor becomes a performer. It is passing through the building, connecting both squares and all interior functions. The facade to the outside is made from glass bricks, which gives a blurred impression of the inside and encourages pedestrians to come in.
